Shag has drawn upon his architectural studies and the aesthetic of his artwork to reimagine this classic 1958 home, originally designed by Desert Modern architects Palmer & Krisel for the Alexander Construction Company.

Caftan Fans from around the globe: we have created this event especially fo you! Modernism Week and The Shag House will celebrate Caftans as a fashion icon for Modern Women (and Men) during this Poolside Soiree. Wear your favorite Caftan as you mix and mingle with jet-setting modernists and fashionistas from across the world.
Palm Springs Lifestyle Icons Kelly Golightly and Dawn McCoy will lead us on a journey celebrating the history of the caftan from 1963 - when Vogue Magazine Editor Diana Vreeland first declared the garment “fashionable for the beautiful people” - to the popularity of contemporary brands like Trina Turk, El Tuggle and Hollywood darling Monica Mahoney.

Celebrate Modernism during this Poolsde Soirée at The Shag House featuring the upcycled vintage style of Palm Springs resident fashion designer Candice Held. Candice is the inspired creative behind her eponymous luxury brand of original textiles–designed in Palm Springs and produced in Italy, England and California. Her collection incorporates retro scarves and fabrics–pairing them with her signature line of tunic dresses, kimonos, sleep wear, loungewear, swimsuits and accessories. Experience her international resort style at our afternoon poolside soirée.

Join your host Josh Agle (aka The Artist Shag) as we celebrate Palm Springs Modernism at The Shag House - the quintessential Martini Party inspired by his 17-color, hand-pulled, silk-screened serigraph “The Mammouth Martini.”
Shag is the host of this party where Life will imitate art as we celebrate Modernism Week and the martini with our friends from Kastra Elion - the premium sipping vodka distilled from Greek Olives.
This swinging soirée will feature a custom music playlist curated by Shag, mid mod-inspired bites, classic cocktails and a premium martini bar provided by Kastra Elion. The Shag House was officially unveiled to the public during Modernism Week 2024, the annual celebration of Midcentury Modern design, architecture, art, fashion and culture that takes place every February in Palm Springs, California. The Shag House was a centerpiece attraction during Modernism Week’s 11 days of home tours, poolside fashion soirees, and of course swanky cocktail parties. What could be more apropos?
